Schneider Electric Introduces Solar Solutions That Provide Energy to Remote Communities

July 27 09:26 2022

Schneider Electric, the global leader in digital energy management and automation, recently announced the launch of two new solar power solutions for communities with limited or no access to electricity. Corporate Knights Global 100 Index labeled Schneider Electric the world’s most sustainable corporation in 2021.

The new solar products are engineered to survive heavy use for a variety of power requirements. They add to Schneider’s portfolio of products and solutions aimed at assisting the United Nations in meeting its 2030 target of universal access to energy.

As per the World Bank, 733 million people around the world still do not have access to electricity. Africa’s population is the least electrified population in the world, with 568 million people without access to electricity throughout the continent.

Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Schneider Electric is committed to having a positive impact on our many stakeholders, especially when it comes to addressing climate change and social inequality. Our energy-efficient products and solutions are designed to help communities that live in locations where the grid is either unreliable or non-existent. – Carol Koech, Country President for East Africa, Schneider Electric

The product launch happened to coincide with the Alliance for Rural Electricity’s (ARE) Energy Access Investment Forum 2022, which took place from June 28 to 30 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

This project brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, such as Schneider Electric, as part of massive active support that attempts to achieve sustainable energy for everyone in the coming years.

Schneider’s new products are available on a global scale.

Homaya Pro Powers Off-Grid Communities with Reliable, Affordable, and Green Electricity

The new Homaya Pro solar-hybrid inverter transforms direct current electricity into alternating current for use in stand-alone or grid-connected systems. With solutions varying from 3, 4, or 6 kW, it can power the energy requirements of a household or a small business. It offers dependable renewable energy access to homes, gas stations, office spaces, healthcare facilities, education institutions, and telecommunication networks.

The Homaya Pro inverter operates on solar energy that includes an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) control system. It is grid-compatible and works with lead or lithium battery systems.

Up to six inverters can be linked in parallel for a total output of up to 24 kW. Users can use the external MPPT to extend a solar array by 1 or 3 kW and boost backup potential, and a WiFi dongle can be used to enable local internet tracking without the use of a mobile app.

Mobiya Original Solar Lanterns for Lighting and Mobile Charging

The most recent Mobiya Original solar lantern provides consumers with secured, dependable, and clean energy for illumination and USB charging. Depending on the tough and waterproof Mobiya Original lantern, this improved version includes new design elements and advancements that make it much easier to manage and use.

This current edition, made of recyclable materials, generates 280 lumens and contains configurations to save power and extend the overall performance of lighting.

Launching these new offers demonstrates Schneider Electric’s commitment to ensuring that 100 million people will have access to green energy by 2030,” said Olivier Jacquet, Schneider Electric’s Vice President for Access to Energy Business Development in the Middle East and Africa. “Homaya Pro is not only easy to use and install but also affordable for people living in remote parts of Africa and Asia.”

Since introducing its Access to Energy program in 2009, Schneider Electric has been constructing and commercializing safe, affordable, and dependable technology solutions to leverage more renewable energy, improve the quality of life and livelihoods of people in remote locations, and endorse developing countries’ growing demand for energy.
